Volunteer at the Centennial!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering to work on one of the most exciting events to come to Wayne County, Indiana in years! The Model T Centennial T Party marks the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the Model T Ford, the car that changed the face of America. Model T enthusiasts from across the U.S. and from as far away as Australia and New Zealand will converge on our communities to celebrate in July 2008.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with so much for visitors to see and do. You can join in on the fun and excitement as well by being a volunteer.
We need your help to make every activity run smoothly and to make every guest feel welcome! Please take time to review the information below and then sign up for the areas and times best suited to you and your schedule. Key Volun‘T’eer information you should know:
1. COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
All community volunteers are asked to register for a minimum of three (3) volunteer shifts (most are approximately 4 hours each). Training will be announced at a later date and is required, two sessions will be offered.
2. PARTICIPANT VOLUNTEERS
If you are bringing a Model T to the Centennial and would be willing to volunteer some time during your stay, that would be greatly appreciated! Your help can be especially valuable in areas that will need a certain amount of experTise... such as the Model T Assembly and Games, Gasoline Alley, etc. Any amount of time you can offer in any capacity will be greatly appreciated.
ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER, AND SIGN A RELEASE WAIVER.
3. PRE-EVENT OPPORTUNITIES
There are many tasks that need to take place months and weeks prior to the actual event. These include preparing mailings, assembly the event books and tote bags, making phone calls, testing tour route directions, etc. Any amount of time you can offer in the months leading up to July will be invaluable.
4. AVAILABILITY
Shifts begin 2 days prior to the event for General Setup (July 19 and 20, 2008). There are generally 3 shifts available each day, at each event. You should choose the shift time and event that works best for your schedule. Some of the events are in the evening, so you may want to make sure you don't sign up for a late shift one day and an early shift the next morning. We want our volunteers to be well rested and ready for their shift!
3. TRAINING
All volunteers will be contacted for a required training session. Some positions will of course require some in depth training while others will be general information. We will offer training in advance of the event and will advise all volunteers, at that time, where they can park, pick up their shirts and where they will check in upon arrival the first day they are scheduled. Contact will be made via E-mail or by phone if no e-mail is available. (Note: training for Participant Volunteers will be flexible based on date of arrival.)
4. UNIFORM
Volunteers will receive a uniform shirt that should be worn with khaki pants, capris or skirt and comfortable shoes. No Shorts.
5. PARKING
Volunteers will have reserved parking available.
